To meet the customer’s demand for high output at low cost, Top Unite developed a customized high-performance multi-action injection molding machine specifically designed for the mass production of food-grade thin-wall containers. The machine achieved an ultra-fast 4-second cycle time while maintaining excellent stability and precise injection accuracy during continuous high-speed operation. CUSTOMER BACKGROUND: FROM CAPACITY BOTTLENECKS TO PRODUCTION BREAKTHROUGH

This client is a leading plastic container manufacturer based in Johannesburg, South Africa, specializing in both industrial-use and food-grade plastic containers. The company recently received a major order requiring 1 million yogurt cups per month, which exceeded the capacity of their existing equipment.

To scale up production without compromising on quality or incurring high costs, the customer began seeking a supplier capable of providing a reliable, high-speed injection molding solution. That’s when they found Top Unite.

THE CUSTOMIZED SOLUTION: STABLE, EFFICIENT, AND 4-SECOND CYCLE TIME

Achieving the customer’s target output and reducing cycle time required addressing one critical technical point: the plasticizing process. Given that the product’s wall thickness was only 0.4 mm, our engineers introduced a chiller system to significantly shorten the cooling phase and improve cycle efficiency.

Additionally, we equipped the machine with a dual-servo multi-action system that independently controls the injection and clamping mechanisms. This setup enabled simultaneous mold opening and plasticizing, which optimized the production cycle and achieved the shortest possible molding time.

The machine was configured with a 140-ton clamping force and a high-speed injection unit capable of reaching 380 mm/s. During customization, we reinforced the platen structure, redesigned the hydraulic system, and modified the PLC program to ensure structural rigidity and hydraulic stability during high-speed operations.

After multiple rounds of on-site testing and optimization, the machine consistently delivered a 4-second cycle, fully meeting the customer’s expectations.
